When we ask residents and visitors what they think of Buikslotermeerplein, we often hear: “There’s nothing to do here in the evening” and “It’s grey and boring here.”
On Thursday, 4 December, from 17:00 to 21:00, the square will be transformed into a vibrant stage filled with light, encounters and creativity. During the Evening Market & Projection, students from the ULT Lab will present their creative concepts for bringing new life to the square after dark — together with local residents, makers and organisations from Amsterdam-Noord.
The event is organised by Event Experience students (Six Stars) from Inholland University of Applied Sciences, who are making this first Night Market try-out possible in close collaboration with the ULT Lab.
■ What can you expect?
- Spectacular light projections on the former bowling centre, featuring work by ULT students, local artists and students from Xplore Agora
- The “Natuurlijk Noord” (Naturally Noord) concept, presented underneath the bowling centre, showing how green and inviting Buikslotermeerplein could become
- A Gift Tree, where you can leave a wish or message for your neighbourhood
- A warm welcome at the Cosy Corner, developed together with Tours That Matter, featuring traditional games, storytellers and a welcoming space to meet others
- The “Taste & Talk” concept, bringing people and flavours together through free mini-tastings offered by PoPPo entrepreneurs in the former Blokker building
- An energetic performance by DAT!school, featuring young talent from Amsterdam-Noord
- A Wisselboetiek stall by Modestraat, offering surprising finds and second-hand treasures
- A stall by Colourful Goodies, founded by Ellen Brudet — known for her colourful dolls and inclusive toys — and proud recipient of the 2025 Andreaspenning
- A stall by ULT Lab Amsterdam & Tours That Matter, where you can hear stories from students and local community makers
- A workshop by the Hout- en Meubileringscollege (HMC), where you can make your own free “I ❤ Noord” keychain
